"and I can’t help but imagine those stifled tears coming out later as angry outbursts, or at best reclaimed sadness on a therapist’s couch. "
As you often do, your imagination is accurate, can't tell you how much I've seen and felt sitting beside that couch.
I've cried with my boys (2 & 3 years old) out of anger and sadness and happiness, and I tell them why I am crying. I want them to be able to identify their emotions and feel as you do that it is a connection between physiology and feeling. Thank you Tim.

I didn't know this either about you, Tim, that you cry easily, but now I do you've risen even higher in my estimation. My brother, too, cries easily, and it's a miracle as my father never (so far as I know) did. I think it's wonderful that you actually appreciate and even (dare I say it?) enjoy crying. So do I -- thanks for the reminder to have a good cry!
